It may have taken three weeks and six games, but the ‘Cats dangerous offense appears to have found its swagger yet again.

Ohio scored early and often to cruise to a 9-1 victory over the American Cancer Society Ice Ghosts Saturday night in the final game of a series devoted to cancer awareness.

On night one of a weekend-long celebration of Ohio University Hockey and effort to raise cancer awareness, familiar faces ruled their former roost.

The American Cancer Society Ice Ghosts, comprised of many former Bobcats, topped the current squad 4-2 on Friday.

It wasn’t until the third period, but the Icers flexed their muscles as the top-ranked team in the ACHA Friday night in Athens.

Penn State scored twice in the final 12 minutes to upend the Ohio Bobcats, 2-1, sending them to their season-long fourth consecutive defeat and first loss in the friendly confines of Bird Arena.

Rivals collide one final time

After four National Championship tussles and countless other memories on the ice, the Ohio Bobcats and Penn State Icers will renew a 21-year rivalry one final time from Bird Arena.

The matchup features two of the premier clubs in the nation so far this season. Penn State (19-3-1) is the top-ranked program in the ACHA, while the Bobcats (21-9-1) sit only a few spots back in fifth.
