Ice Ghosts take game one, 4-2
Submitted By Justin Sampson on Friday, February 03, 2012
On night one of a weekend-long celebration of Ohio University Hockey and effort to raise cancer awareness, familiar faces ruled their former roost.

The American Cancer Society Ice Ghosts, comprised of many former Bobcats, topped the current squad 4-2 on Friday.

The pregame was a welcome reunion for many Bobcats who played together.  Former Ohio skaters, responsible for multiple banners hanging in Bird Arena's rafters, reminisced about their college days.

It was also a night for current netminders Fedor Dushkin, Brendan Madden, and Ian Smith to share the ice with Paul Marshall.  The former goalie holds virtually every record at the position for Ohio.  Donning the familiar green pads and mask, Marshall looked back at home between the pipes at Bird Arena.

Brad Robbins, formerly of Miami University, opened the scoring in the first period on Smith.  He picked up the assist from Matt Shenk and Jim Fuhs.

In the second, Smith took to the bench in favor of Madden.  He let a pair of tallies slip past, the first of which from the stick of 2004 ACHA National Tournament MVP, Frank Kubas.  Former CSCHL Player of the Year, Jim Fuhs, followed suit later in the frame to make it 3-0.

Zach Tisdale finally snuck one past Marshall near the end of the second to cut the Ice Ghosts' lead to two.  Following the final intermission, Dushkin moved into the net.  Justin Altoff his tallied his team's fourth goal off the double-dish from Billy Hemann and JJ Plutt.  Ohio added one final tally late in the third off the stick of Jay Mazzarella.

Both teams shared the ceremonial raising of the sticks at center ice after the game.  They'll both also be back tomorrow for the Saturday tilt.  The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. Check back to ohiobobcatshockey.com for recaps, features, and more throughout the weekend.
