Two Former Bobcats honored for High School Performance
Farmer, Plutt named Honorable Mention as Player of the
Decade.
Their competitive hockey days may be over but two Ohio players are not forgotten in the Cleveland area.
Chris Lillstrung, a writer for The News-Herald, published an article a week ago looking back at the best high-school players that took to the ice in Northern Ohio.
Two of the five Honorable Mention nominees suited up for Coach Dan Morris’ Bobcats.
Robbie Farmer of Mayfield and J.J. Plutt of Lake Catholic were selected.
“Cleveland produces a lot of great hockey players,” said Farmer, who now resides in Idaho.
Mayfield didn’t field a high-school hockey team until Farmer’s freshmen year, “It prepared me a lot. I took on a lot of leadership early in my career,” Farmer said.
Farmer graduated from Mayfield in 2002 and played for the Bobcats from 2002-2005.
“In my opinion, it’s the finest program in the country,” Farmer said of the Ohio hockey operation.
Plutt graduated from Lake Catholic in 2005 and laced the skates as a Bobcat from 2005-2008.
“The 2005 N-H player of the year was a great all-around talent who had 102 points in the last two years of a decorated career,” Lillstrung wrote of Plutt.
In his 144 career games with Ohio, Plutt scored 50 goals and added 51 assists.
Lillstrung named Patrick Neundorfer as the Player of the Decade. According to Lillstrung, Neundorfer graduated from University in 2002 and played collegiate hockey at Princeton.
