Ohio Falls Short in Semi-Finals
Submitted By Bryan Levin on Wednesday, March 10, 2010
Iowa State scored 4 unanswered goals in third period.

With the winner advancing to the ACHA finals to take on #1 Lindenwood, the #3 Ohio Bobcats lost 4-2 to #5 Iowa State Tuesday night.

The Bobcats got on the board first when Billy Hemann scored on a short-handed attempt. Tyler Pilmore assisted.

Hemann's goal was the lone tally in the first period.

In the second, Ohio scored the only goal as well.

Midway through the period Michael Schultz beat Cyclone goalie Erik Hudson to go up 2-0. Jonathan Pietramala and Jake Holzemer assisted.

Down two goals heading into the final period, Iowa State made the necessary changes.

Less than 30 seconds in, Brian Spring scored on the power-play to close the gap to 2-1. Mike Lebler collected the assist.

Only 2:30 later, Lebler tied the game. Spring and David Kurbatsky assisted.

Midway through the period the Cyclones took the lead when Brad Krueger lit the lamp. Derek Kohles assisted.

With time winding down, the Bobcats threw everything they had at the opponent, but Hudson stopped every attempt, including a Schultz breakaway.

With less than 2 seconds left, Lebler scored on an empty net to give Iowa State a 4-2 victory.

Iowa State and Lindenwood will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. to decide the ACHA Championship.

Ohio finishes the season 34-10-0-3, with a CSCHL regular season title.
