Bring Out the Brooms!

Ohio completes the sweep over #5 Iowa State, winning 4-2.

On Friday, it was goalie Paul Marshall making 37 saves that led the Bobcats to victory over the Cyclones.

Tonight, Marshall was once again up to task, making 43 saves.

While Marshall was a brick wall in net, the scoring line of Michael Schultz, Tyler Pilmore and Nick Rostek were wrecking balls tearing down the barrier set up by Cyclone goalie Erik Hudson.

The offensive tandem had a helping hand in all four of Ohio's goals.

In the first, Schultz had the lone goal of the period on a power-play. Pilmore and blue-liner Zack Barbis were credited with the assists.

The second period saw a few scoring scoring opportunities for both teams.

About halfway through the period, Barbis went top-shelf to beat Hudson, putting the 'Cats up 2-0. Schultz and Steve Osacky collected the helpers.

A minute later Iowa State got on the board when Brian Spring scored unassisted.

A few shifts later Pilmore was back on the score sheet as he lit the lamp to the delight of the Bird Arena crowd, putting Ohio up 3-1. Schultz and Rostek assisted on the play.

In the final period, the Cyclones made it a one-goal contest when Mike Lebler received a pass from Justin Wilkinson and sent the puck behind Marshall on a 5-on-3 man advantage.

Holding on to a 3-2 lead, Pilmore finished off the Cyclones with his second goal of the game. Schultz and Rostek were there once again for the assists.

The 4-2 win gives Ohio its first sweep since early December when the team took down top-ranked Lindenwood.

With the victory the Bobcats improve to 29-6-0-2 while Iowa State falls to 23-9-0-4.

Next week Ohio will welcome Kent State to Bird Arena.
